MARRIAGE: Never married

Lloyd Peter Larson was born on September 14, 1926, on the family farm in Emmetsburg Township, Palo Alto County, Iowa. His birth was a difficult one and Lloyd suffered from the consequences in later life. As a young man, Lloyd helped with the farm work, but he never really enjoyed it. In 1946, he graduated from eighth grade and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In the late 1940s, Lloyd moved to Ames, where he worked as a carpenter's helper and tended mason for George Necott. He was eventually drafted into the U.S. Army and served from September 22, 1950, to August 27, 1952. He was with a mortar platoon and served in Germany during 1951 and 1952.

After his military service, Lloyd went back to farming in Emmetsburg Township for a few years. He then moved to St. Paul where he worked at West Publishing for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, photography, riding his bike, and playing table tennis. He enjoyed watching baseball and was always a New York Yankee fan.

My memory of Lloyd is that he was always a gentleman. He didn't have any of the usual bad habits. He never smoked, drank alcohol, or used profanity. He was somewhat shy, but very friendly to everyone.
