John Edwards

John Edwards was our great grandfather. He was born in Michigan in 1848 and served in the Civil War. After the war, he married Sarah Provoast, and they eventually moved to Crawford County, Iowa.

This is a photo of Thomas W. McCollough and Edna Myrtle (Edwards) McCollough. I think it must have been taken in the 1930s, possibly about the time when their son Donavon graduated from high school. Tom worked for Iowa Public Service and Myrtle kept a very Victorian style house.

Cecil Edwards met a young girl named Yvonne Bruhand while he was serving in France during WW I. They fell in love and got married after the war. This photo was taken around 1919 or 1920.

This is a photo of Normand Edwards that was taken while he was in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, during the Korean War.

This is a picture of Grace Edwards, taken around 1920. She married a man who also served in France during WW I. His name was Ralph Henry "Mike" McKee. Before the war, Uncle Mike worked as a telegrapher for the railroad, so he was probably in the U.S. Army signal corp.

This is a photo of Ralph Henry "Mike" McKee and Grace E. (Edwards) McKee. It was probably taken in the 1920s. Uncle Mike worked as a rural mail carrier until his retirement. Grace was the mother of five children, one of whom died at the age of three.
